Brookdale Salinas is conveniently located just off N. Main Street, close to Route 101 and Route 1, the major highway that runs north-south along the California coast. The Northridge Shopping Center, just minutes from our community, offers many large stores – Macy’s, JCPenney, Wal-Mart, Marshals and Target – to name a few – as well as many terrific restaurants; Marie Callendar’s, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Applebee’s are among our residents’ favorites. Several hospitals are also close by, including Salinas Valley Memorial, Natividad Medical Center and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. And the Monterey Peninsula, with its many attractions, is an easy half-hour drive south.

The Northridge Shopping Center is literally three minutes from our community. Because it’s just around the corner, we’re able to take residents shopping and out to lunch every week. And each year, Salinas is the location for one of the biggest rodeos in the country – the California Rodeo Salinas. We never miss the week-long festivities, which include musical events, rodeos, parades, barbecues, cowboy poetry, fireworks, concerts, a carnival and much more. In addition, Monterey is just about 17 minutes south, making it easy for us to frequently visit the Monterey Aquarium, the Steinbeck Center and Monterey Beach. Residents especially enjoy strolling along the Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf, the best place to take in the sights, sounds and scents of Monterey. Neighboring Wharf 2 is the heart of the area’s thriving fishing industry, giving residents the opportunity to watch working trawlers unloading the catch of the day. Sea lions basking in the calm inner harbor waters, tours in glass bottom boats, whale watching, horse racing and deep-sea fishing make Monterey a top destination choice with our residents. The dramatic coastline of Carmel, just 20 minutes from Brookdale Salinas, have has been voted among the best beaches in the country. While the countryside is spectacular, Carmel is also a favorite with residents for its Bach concerts.
