Largest Ever Jo Mora Cartes Exhibit at adjacent Stanton Center
Monterey History and Art Association’s Stanton Center and Theater is pleased to unveil a new exhibit, “Jo Mora: Cartographer,” the largest collection of Jo Mora’s Cartes ever displayed. Twenty-two cartes created by beloved artist Joseph Jacinto Mora (1876-1947) are now on display, including Mora’s “Seventeen Mile” carte, which has recently been re-dated to 1935. Highlights of this exhibit, curated by MHAA Board Member, Scott Gale, in association with Jo Mora expert, Peter Hiller and historian Neil Hoteling, also include four versions of the carte, “Evolution of the Cowboy,” and three versions of the “Yosemite” carte (black and white and two color). The exhibit will run through August 31, 2025.

Celebrating Monterey County Art Fellows: Réception d'ouverture
Kick off the New Year with Celebrating Monterey County Art Fellows, an inspiring exhibit featuring the work of 2023 California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship recipients: JC Gonzalez – Multidisciplinary artist blending nature, abstract styles, and cultural identity.
Jerry Takigawa – Award-winning photographer with works in major museum collections.
Natalia Poehner Corazza – Muralist exploring connection and vulnerability through mystical landscapes. Enjoy the Opening Reception during Downtown Salinas’ First Friday event. Meet the artists, enjoy live music, and savor small bites while exploring the gallery and studios featuring 15 local artists and artisans.

Carmel by the Sea Farmers Market
The Market features local certified organic fresh farm produce, eggs, plants, fresh cut flowers, and specialty items such as olive oil, hummus, pizza and bread. Green Waste Recovery provides a yellow food scrap bin for compostable items and Sustainable Carmel is often onsite to answer any question regarding composting and recycling. Community Groups can also be seen at the Market working to improve local issues, as well as those with a larger impact.

The Alzheimer’s Association presents: ‘Melodic Memories’ Sing-a-Long
Singing is not only an enjoyable activity, it can also provide a way for people with early memory loss and others to express themselves in a friendly and stimulating social environment. This group meets on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of each month. New members welcomed.

Jazz Bash by the Bay Monterey
The Jazz Bash By the Bay Monterey takes place in the Conference Center and Portola Hotel & Spa with 8 venues and 6 dance floors. Enjoy the colorful forms of American Classic Jazz including: Traditional, Ragtime, Swing, Gypsy, and Blues. 1 Hotel, 3 Journées, 8 Venues, 20+ Bands, Sur 100 Musicians… and YOU!

Cars & Coffee
The picturesque Laguna Seca Recreation Area is home to one of the most dynamic Cars & Coffee locations in America. Early risers will enjoy a relaxed and quiet environment as entrance begins at 7:30 am to enjoy a wide variety of automobiles and a delicious cup of coffee. A $5 donation is required which will go to help a local non profit.

Easter on the Wharf 2024
There will be lots of Easter fun to enjoy at Old Fisherman’s Wharf with many “eggstra-special” festive and whimsical giant Easter decorations on display throughout the weekend! Come take photos with our (live) giant Easter Bunny from 1 h - 6 pm on Easter Sunday in front of Abalonetti’s Bar and Grill. This unique Easter Bunny will be sure to inspire lots of smiles and humorous photos. In addition to Easter-themed decorations on the Wharf for the perfect selfies and family photos, the Wharf merchants will be offering many “Easter-themed” items including lots of sweet and colorful Easter confections at the three candy shops (Candy World, Carousel Candies and the Wharf Chocolate Factory plus there will be lots of Easter-themed items at the Wharf gift shops. There will also be special food items from the restaurants featuring delicious Easter specials, trop.

St. Patrick’s Day on the Wharf
Come and enjoy lots of fun St. Patrick’s Day Decorations and special food and cocktails, trop! Thank you to Monterey County Bank for their generous sponsorship of this fun event!

13th Annual Whalefest Monterey
Cette “edutaining” family friendly event will be held at and around Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the Custom House Plaza -Monterey State Historic Park. It includes fun activities for all ages, musiciens, boat displays and dozens of fascinating marine-related interactive exhibits by numerous local and national organizations. Whalefest Monterey benefits many local and national marine organizations that educate, inspirer, et responsabiliser le public pour protéger le sanctuaire marin national Monterey Bay (MBNMS). The event will also feature a 2-day Symposium with world-renowned marine experts and historians. Be sure to check out the prior Symposium presentations from 2022 and earlier at Whalefest.org.

California Wildlife Day
This year’s theme is “We are a part of nature, not apart from nature.” New this year, the CWD team is working with Cedar and Stone Events and Atlas Hospitality, LLC to build the event programming.
