Founded in 1957, the Soldiers’ Chorus is the vocal component of The United States Army Field Band of Washington, DC. This 29-member chorus travels throughout the nation and abroad, performing both independently and jointly with the Army Field Band’s Concert Band.

We welcome back to St. Mary’s stage the incomparable master of the Scottish fiddle, Alasdair Fraser and his world-class musical partner, Cellist Natalie Haas. This is a special opportunity to hear this innovative duo in our lovely intimate setting. The concert will be preceded by the 50 minute film, “The Groove Is Not Trivial,” a powerful documentary on the healing power of music, featuring Alasdair’s exploration of Scottish and other traditional music styles. Lady Washington Tall Ship Visit 
Lady Washington, the official tall ship of the State of Washington, will vist Monterey on November 8-26 and take part in a special re-enactment of the Bouchard’s attack on Monterey. This re-enactment on November 17th will include a cannon duel with the Presidio, a beach landing of privateers, a lowering of the Spanish and raising of the Argentine flag, with dramatic presentations by actors portraying the principle characters, City official will also make presentations

The event’s innovative tee placement system strives to see players from each tour hitting the same clubs into every green. The pros play from different tees, but compete for the same $300,000 purse. Pros also rotate and play with teams of four amateurs each day. Following the first three rounds of tournament play, there is a 54-hole cut to the low 40 professionals and ties, plus the top 10 amateur teams and ties.

One of the most anticipated events of the holidays, the city’s Homecrafters’ Marketplace features 100 vendors from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties selling their own handmade crafts and artwork. Each has been subjected to a jury panel for selection, ensuring high-quality goods and a wide range of unique offerings. The sale takes place in the parking lots of the city’s Sunset Cultural Center.

We recommend that all volunteers dress in layers, wear sun protection, and bring a filled reusable water bottle. Volunteers under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. There are restrooms and drinking fountains on site. Parking will be limited, so please plan accordingly. No RSVPs are necessary, but you can sign our online waiver ahead of time to save time and reduce our paper use at saveourshores.org/waiver.

Monterey Bay Antiques & Vintage market is an outdoor monthly faire held at the Monterey Peninsula College . To help celebrate this event, Steven Yvaska, the antique columnist with the San Jose Mercury will be offering free appraisals of your treasures from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The market features over 80 premium dealers from Northern and Central California . They will be selling strictly antiques and vintage items, everything from the Primitives to Mid Century Modern. The vendors will be featuring jewelry, furniture, shabby chic, re-purposed items, cloths, collectibles and so much more. The market is free to the public with free parking. Hours 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The Moss Landing Arts & Crafts Holiday Sale is held at the Studio and Gardens of Artist Nancy Russell. Nancy’s home was once the home of The Castroville Times, with a rich history of being dedicated to community, and as a gathering place for the residents of Moss Landing and its surrounding areas. To this day, Nancy maintains a connection to the community and has made her home the meeting place for a group of neighborhood artists (who have become known as “The Movers and Makers”). Together they conceived the idea of the Moss Landing Arts & Crafts Holiday Sale. The Movers and Makers mission is to bring talented artists/artisans together to showcase and sell their arts and crafts in an intimate setting designed to bring the community together through art.
