The Old Monterey Marketplace and Farmers Market is held on Alvarado Street every Tuesday, 4pm-7pm, featuring local produce, crafts, and food vendors. We’re open rain or shine. You’re invited to come explore! The Old Monterey Farmers Market, established in 1991, comprises of 3 ½ city blocks and runs year-round rain or shine. You can travel the world in just three blocks, finding arts and crafts, handmade jewelry, furniture, clothing, international food, organic produce, flowers, and pastries.

Indulge in fantastic food, great wines and exquisite scenery at the Big Sur Food and Wine Festival. Local and visiting restaurateurs, resorts and wineries from all over will team up for dinners and tastings at unique Big Sur locations. Proceeds from the event benefit health, safety, art and educational programs in the area.

Carmel by the Sea Farmers Market 
The Market features local certified organic fresh farm produce, eggs, plants, fresh cut flowers, and specialty items such as olive oil, hummus, pizza and bread. Green Waste Recovery provides a yellow food scrap bin for compostable items and Sustainable Carmel is often onsite to answer any question regarding composting and recycling. Community Groups can also be seen at the Market working to improve local issues, as well as those with a larger impact.

As we mark the 15th Anniversary of the Monterey County Veterans Day Parade, we are proud to invite the community to participate in selecting this year’s Grand Marshal. For the first time, the public is invited to submit nominations for a local veteran whose honorable military service, leadership, and contributions to our community deserve special recognition during this milestone year.

Come From Away is a heartwarming musical that tells the true story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, welcomed 7,000 stranded airline passengers during the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The story begins with the townspeople of Gander learning about the attacks and the subsequent closure of U.S. airspace. As planes are rerouted, the local community springs into action, preparing to host the stranded passengers. The musical captures the confusion and uncertainty experienced by the travelers as they await information about their flights and safety. As the days unfold, the residents of Gander provide food, shelter, and emotional support to the passengers, forming deep connections and friendships. The musical highlights various true stories of kindness, cultural exchange, and shared humanity amidst the global tragedy. Eventually, as U.S. airspace reopens, the passengers prepare to leave, leading to emotional goodbyes filled with gratitude and promises to stay in touch. The musical serves as a poignant reminder of the goodness that can emerge even in the darkest of times.
